in 2001 I was honored with the U.N.I.T. Golden Dalek award.

I have to admit to being both honored and humbled by this. The award is "Presented for outstanding achievement in Doctor Who Fandom" by the Universal Network of Iowan Timelords the real force behind Doctor Who fandom in Iowa.

In my case the achievement is linked directly to this website and rests squarely on the shoulders of all the amazing people who have come together to make it a real community. I have to admit as time has gone on I have found myself unfortunately distanced from doing as much work on sffn.com as I used to. Even to the point of frequently missing the weekly chats. Kind of feel like I'm letting the team down in a way there, but as it's been pointed out - we all have lives outside Sci-Fi Friday Night.

So I'd like to thank everyone who has made my late night whim a success and who have gone on to do so much more.
Of course IPTV has to be credited with their long term commitment to showing Doctor Who in Iowa and for not stopping me from doing this site in the first place. After all Sci-fi Friday Night is their baby :)

And I'd especially like to thank the go getters at U.N.I.T. not just for giving the thing to me but for being there to begin with. In the early days of sffn.com when more and more people started pouring in I could see that there was some heavy interest in taking this fandom thing to the next level. And at the time that scared me because I knew I wasn't going to be able to handle it. Sffn.com was already bigger than I'd figured it would be, I sure wouldn't be able to handle much more fan related organization.
Thankfully U.N.I.T pulled together and took it upon themselves to do what needed to be done.

So all that said, I promise to be at the next of U.N.I.T.'s EXILED in Iowa Events. If you haven't been to one do what you can to get to one. It's no matter how bad the weather might be ;)

Now back to the madness...
